Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the difference between a grimoire, Book of Shadows and a journal?
A: A grimoire is a book that is specifically used to keep track of magickal workings. A Book of Shadows is usually what a magickal practitioner uses as a reference of information to look back to such as correspondences, associations and spells. A grimoire is more a trial and error or magickal workings. A journal is simply a book where you write your private thoughts, create art or put whatever you desire into it.
In this store, we use the term "grimoire" primarily to refer to especially large blank books. Anything that is over 10" tall and has more than 200 pages.

Q: How much is shipping?
A: Shipping within the United States is already figured into each item's price, so there is no extra cost for shipping. The price you see is the price you pay. In another words, shipping within the United States is basically free. If you are outside the US, please check our shipping page for information on pricing.

Q: Does the page count include the backside of each page or is it individual sheets only?
A: The page count is the number of individual sheets in a journal/grimoire. The backside is not counted as a page.

Q: Can I get handmade/cotton rag paper in my X-large grimoire instead of the standard paper?
A: Unfortunately no. Handmade paper (our cotton rag paper is handmade as well) is incredibly expensive in small sheets. We are only able to get certain sizes every so often. Once in a blue moon we will get a batch of 9" x 12" paper or a pre-folded signature pack of lined handmade paper and we make up a grimoire and list it as soon as we are able, however they tend to sell immediately. If you are interested in knowing when the next one of these becomes available, be sure to follow us on Instagram.

Q: Can I order a custom journal instead of a grimoire?
A: At this time custom journals are not available. Custom grimoires are available depending on how busy we are at that time. You can check this page for updates on when custom grimoires become available and if we do decide to offer custom journals, they will be posted to that page as well.

Q: How can I best care for my Journal/Grimoire?
A: Condition it if it ever starts to feel dry or loses its softness. I recommend NaturGlo Anti-Aging Leather Care Lotion. It is like an anti-aging face cream but for leather and comes in an easy pump bottle. Put a few pumps on a soft cloth and gently massage it into the leather. If you have a book made with stained leather, some stain may come off onto the cloth. This is normal and shouldn't take any color away from the look of your book.
